The curriculum consists of six academic modules, followed by two evaluation assessments and the submission of a doctoral research dissertation.

Module 2: Human Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology
Modern medical sciences integrated with Oriental medical concepts.

Module 3: Diagnostic Methods in Oriental Medicine
Pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, patient assessment, syndrome differentiation, and case analysis.

Module 4: Herbal Medicine & Natural Therapeutics
Traditional herbal formulations, pharmacology, nutrition, and evidence-based natural therapies.

Module 5: Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Clinical Techniques
Acupuncture theory, meridian systems, point selection, treatment protocols, cupping, moxibustion, and related therapeutic techniques.

Module 6: Clinical Research, Ethics & Integrative Medicine
Research methodology, clinical ethics, healthcare regulations, evidence-based practice, integrative medicine, and dissertation preparation.

Evaluation Test 1: Comprehensive assessment covering Modules 1–3.

Evaluation Test 2: Comprehensive assessment covering Modules 4–6.

Candidates are required to complete and submit an original doctoral research dissertation in a relevant field of Oriental Medicine. The dissertation demonstrates independent research, critical analysis, and contribution to professional knowledge in the discipline.

The Doctor of Sowa Rigpa Medicine (DSRM) is an advanced research-oriented doctoral program designed for practitioners, researchers, and healthcare professionals seeking expertise in the traditional Tibetan system of medicine. The program emphasizes original research, evidence-based practice, and the integration of traditional medical knowledge with contemporary healthcare.

Each candidate shall submit:

• Two (2) original research papers related to Sowa Rigpa Medicine.
• Papers should demonstrate independent research and contribute to the advancement of traditional medicine.

The doctoral assessment consists of:

• Comprehensive assessment covering Modules 1–3.

• Comprehensive assessment covering Modules 4–6.

• Successful completion of all six modules.
• Submission of two research papers.
• Acceptance and defense of the doctoral thesis (if applicable).
